Welcome to the Sanbona Wildlife Reserve

About three hours drive from Cape Town, through the Robertson wine valley, is the amazing 54,000 hectares Sanbona Wildlife Reserve, owned by Dubai World Africa, which also owns the world famous Shamwari Game Reserve and other great attractions.
In 2005 Sanbona was named by Harpers and Queen Magazine as one of the best 100 places in the world. The Karoo scenery is spectacular, the night skies clear and illuminating, the air clean and fresh and the wildlife free roaming. The mountains and plains, indigenous flora and fauna, rock formations and rock art are all stunning. Sanbona is a truly wonderful break and experience in the African bush.
Lodge 34 offers excellent and five star plus accommodation with facilities second to none. Four ensuite small lodges, with indoor and outdoor showers, terraces and stunning views, can sleep eight people. The central lodge area features a fully equipped kitchen, braai area and dining room with a comfortable lounge with fireplace, satellite TV and high speed internet Wi-Fi access. The outdoor terrace overlooks a swimming pool and the beautiful Karoo, where you may just spot lions or cheetah walking by, as has been the case in the past.
There’s no need to bring sheets or towels as all the essentials are taken care of. Make sure you bring food and drinks (sundowners!) for your stay, bush clothes (no bright colours), fleece, swimming gear, camera, binoculars and any other bush gadgets. There’s no unaccompanied walking in the reserve but a ranger can be hired. Spa treatments and dining can be booked at the commercial lodges, space permitting.
